The City of Shenandoah was incorporated in 1871 and today employs a mayor-council form of government with a professional City Manager. We have 5 city council members who serve 4 year terms. Shenandoah currently has a population of approximately 5,500 and encompasses approximately 4 square miles in area located in the fertile rolling hills of southwest Iowa about 60 miles southeast of Omaha, Nebraska.
